The death toll is now over 135.

The damage to the city is the equivalent of a 1/10th nuclear bomb. 

The injuries exceeded 4,000. 

The city is in mourning, shell-shocked and under a 2 week state of emergency.

What caused it? 2,750 tons of aluminium nitrate taken from a ship impounded in the port.

What is it for? Its used for fertilizers and for explosives. The FBI building blown up in Oklahoma, also used fertilizers. 

Those responsible are under house arrest and will face jail time and/or major fines. 

The authorities are also to blame. They had been urging the warehouse to remove the chemicals, for over 6 years. 

Well its too late for regrets, but Beirut is devastated. The city has just started recovering from years of civil war, now this. 


We hope and pray they pick up the pieces and restore their city to its former glory.
