One of the most cliched discussion points in evangelical circles, for the past 20 or so years, was the "New World Order". 

The term hails back to the League of Nations and the United Nations. It emphasized order after two World Wars and a century of chaos.

Its noble goals included the UN, which provided all nations with a platform to Jaw-Jaw rather than War-War. 

Its goals included democracy, constitutionalism, rule of law, human rights, press freedom and more. 

That saw unprecedented global progress, through the most technologically advanced era of history. 

It also set the new era on solid and sustainable foundations, resulting in global cooperation, peace, stability and so on. 

But that is all at risk now.

The conditions now emerging in the world are becoming less conducive to order and more suited to power grabs. 

The 230 year old US Constitution has never been so abused and disrespected, in both spirit and deed, as we have seen recently. 

For as far back as US administrations go, there were aspects of the constitution that were defined by tradition, goodwill and honor. 

It was always theoretically possible in a Presidential Democracy, for a rogue leader to test the limits of the constitution ...

... but doing so was unthinkable. Being presidential and serving all the people of that great nation, took precedence. 

But the current administration has broken every norm, exonerated criminal activity, blinked at wrong doing and pardoned offenders. 

If a change of leadership happens in November, and that is moot, it may be too late to actually stop the slide. 

Already many allied nations are turning away and reverting to a go-it-alone stance, sans America. It may be too late to stop that. 

But its not just about America.

Russia just voted to effectively make Putin president for life, and my is he a rogue, a self-serving hard man with global ambitions. 

China already has a president for life and has similar, even shared ambitions, that seek to exploit a growing global power vacuum.

Other nations are seeing arrogant leadership inspire arrogance in the people, who are increasingly defying their governments.

Out of the woodwork has crawled racists, fascists, anti-semites, nationalists, perverts, extremists and so on. 

But the balance of power model that should restrained that, is failing as political parties polarize to the point of outright alienation. 

As I once predicted, Islam is not the threat everyone thought it would be. Trouble is rising in our own ranks. 

That fact and the destabilizing impact of Covid-19, is setting the stage for the third and last attempt to dominate the world. 

Where is God in this in all this "order"?

Historically God did not readily judge entire nations, but started with a narrower focus. 

Thus Judea was treated quite differently to Israel, and neighboring nations were treated fairly if they acted honorably. 

But once a nation reached a critical mass of internal corruption, judgment was inevitable. 

In the case of Sodom and Gomorrah God even waited until it was down to a dozen righteous souls. Same for the flood. He also waited 400 or so years before judging the Amalekites.

And, talking of conspiracies like the New World order, that generally did not judge powerful leaders but corrupt nations. 

When his judgment fell on Israel it was notably because the people had turned, not just because the kings were bad. 

And the more I watch global events, the more I am convinced that materialism, greed, hedonism and so on, will be our undoing.   

And when it comes, nations will bear their shame, if not for doing wrong then for allowing wrong to be done.
