The Chinese video sharing app, TikTok is on the market.

Well officially it isn't but Microsoft's share price surged on news that it was interested in buying out the US business.

President Trump has indicated that the app will be banned in the USA on suspicion of it being used by the Chinese government to spy on US business and military activities.

Of course, China denies that, but there are grounds to believe it after general spying allegations were confirmed by actual spies.

That's hardly a big deal given that the CIA spies on Chinese activities as well. Its part of the game.

But now one must wonder if any of this had anything to do with spying at all after Trump claimed that the US government should get a cut out of any sale to Microsoft.

Its start to look like another case in a long history of America 'cleaning up', a euphemism for taking economic advantage of the setbacks faced by other nations.

Trump believes he came up with that great idea and therefor should secure a cut for the state.

However, that leads to an unorthodox arrangement that complicates any possible deal. It also leaves a big question hanging over the sincerity of the action against the Chinese.

Well, whatever, September 1 is the likely date when the ban will take effect so it gives little time to negotiate a deal.
