A small miner made two big Tanzanite finds.

The gemstone is only found in Tanzania, and is highly prized for its beautiful cut finish.

But a Mr Lazier, who runs his own small mining operation unearthed two large stones, valued at $3.4m and $2m respectively.

He is an overnight millionaire. But he plans to invest a fair amount of the proceeds into a school and a health clinic.

I don't know whether he wants that for his own tribe of 30 children, but it will probably help.

The stones are regarded as among the rarest of all gemstones in the world and may be depleted in the next 20 years.

They come in colors of blue, red and yellow and good specimens can make fine jewelry.

Mr Lazier will also sell his stones directly to the government to ensure quick payment and a clean trade.
