In Iran, a lecturer, Dr Moore-Gilbert, was jailed, as far back as 2018: on the pretext of spying against the nation.
She was tried in secret, never fairly, and denied any access to her family, especially her children.
But she was offered an early exit if she agreed to spy on the UK. She refused and stood her ground.
After 2 years of living in solitary confinement, sleeping on a stone floor and suffering all kinds of deprivation ...
... she has now been moved to a harsher prison, with even less rights, because she proved too tough to break.
Her crime. There isn't one. This is more to do with UK-Iranian politics and she is caught in the cross-fire.
In Turkey: President Erdogan unilaterally reopened the Hagia Sofia as a mosque.
Its a world heritage site, a magnificent example of Byzantine architecture and was built as a church.
It became a mosque during Ottoman domination, which ended in 1918. But Gamiel Attaturk insisted on a secular state and thus turned the great building into a widely visited monument.
No more, the leader has spoken, turned up his nose at global interests and defiled what really was a global heritage.
Are they crazy? Why stir up so much ill-will for something that was never built for Islamic use. Its not their way.
Its got nothing to do with that. This is another nation just stirring up the pot to antagonize world order.
In China: Hong Kong loses its separate status in China and consequently loses its separate status to the world.
Was it necessary? I doubt it. Yet China chose to upset one of the world's most prosperous economic zones.
The motive? Well it didn't sit well with the authorities that the enclave was so different. That is just not the Chinese way.
It had to fall in line or face consequences, and now secret police have headquartered themselves in the city to tame it.
Of what use is that to global goodwill? It isn't. It makes no sense other than further evidence of strong arming.
But while that is happening, China is also aggressively expanding in the South China Sea.
Isn't economic power of greater value to China? Or is the good-will it will cost too high a price to pay? I don't know. It makes no sense.
In America: Pastor Rick Wiles goes on an all-out rant to encourage President Trump to open fire on demonstrators.
His reasoning? Well he thinks the demonstrations are all a big commie plot to take over America.
So all he knows is how to do exactly what Iran, Turkey and China are doing. Just be unreasonable and stick it to the world.
Oh but Mr Wiles is an outlier? Mmmm. Is he really? I think he is what he is because he has a lot of support. Same for Iran, Turkey and China.
There are many people out there who think unreasonable action and violence is perfectly okay.
But when the Attorney General shows his unique bias to exonerate such people, I have to ask how outlying it is.
I am not attacking anyone. I am just generalizing.
The fact of the matter is the world seems, of late, to have become more hostile and less reasonable than ever.
I have cited seemingly unrelated stories. There are more, many more. But there is a definite pattern.
Whether its being stoked by Covid-19 or because nations are feeling they have less to lose as economies falter, isn't clear.
But its stoking scattered fires around the globe which like BLM, have all the potential to spread quickly.
The fuel for a major disintegration of civilization as we know it is out there and the sparks have become flaming torches.
The world is starting to unravel and if the Covid-19 crisis is not stopped soon, dangerous options will be explored.
There is still so much good-will, but patience is wearing thin and the veneer of civility is starting to slip.
I hope, and pray, that I am not being unreasonable too. I must trust that there is enough goodwill to pull us back to reason. I must.
