A global study has found 21 drugs that could be used against the virus.
Remdesivir, which conspiratorialists claimed as a plot by Fauci, Gates and others, helps reduce recovery time.
And dexamethasone was found by UK scientists to be effective for critical care patients, with a generic rolling out in SA.
Neither will work for everyone.
But an arsenal of 21 drugs is now in the works, all of which could help stem the replication of the virus.
Four of those drugs work well with Remdesivir in a cocktail that boosts efficacy.
With infections rising, notably in the US, the race is on to find affordable and, if possible, out-patient therapies.
The combined array of drugs includes some that are already FDA approved, such as Remdesivir and drugs used for leprosy.
Animal testing is underway for all the identified drugs, which show promise for controlled doses.
Some are already in scope as viable solutions.
Somewhere down the road a vaccine will likely also arrive and SA is currently conducting promising field tests.
